DHARAMSHALA, INDIA: In response to the recent brutal Chinese crackdown on peaceful Tibetan protesters, and the ensuing deep concern in the Tibetan exile capital, Dharamshala, the Dharamshala Earthville Institute (DEVI) has begun organizing a series of nightly community events addressing what's happening in Tibet and what concerned global citizens can do to help. Hosted by our KhanaNirvana Community Café, these events include public "town hall" discussions, speakers, and screenings of documentary films. The events are organized primarily by Tibetans living in exile, as a way of doing something positive and constructive in a time of grave concern. The Dalai Lama has repeatedly asked the Tibetan communities both in Tibet and in exile to remain nonviolent in their responses to the aggression of the Chinese police and military, and we are pleased to see the good work our Tibetan team in Dharamshala is doing in this spirit. For more information, visit the websites of DEVI and KhanaNirvana.
