What: Volunteer/service-learning program in the Himalayas

Topic: Green Karma Yoga: Sustainable & Compassionate Living in the Himalayas & Beyond — eco-architecture, green building, organic gardening, tree planting

Where: Dharmalaya Institute in Bir, HP, India

When: December, 2012 (participants are welcome to arrive and depart anytime, and to stay on into January and February if they don't mind the cold)

Language: English (with Hindi translation available)

Facilitators: Mark Moore, Naresh Sharma, et al

Description: Residential/non-residential volunteer and service-learning program. Also open to drop-in volunteers, but staying at least a week is recommended. 

The program will be mostly unstructured. We will train participants to perform a few different kinds of work on our new eco-campus, and you will be free to choose which type or types of work to do. Possible informal workshops and groups sessions include the following:

  • Hands-on education in traditional earthen architecture of the Himalayas
  • Organic gardening
  • Permaculture landscaping
